The SH123 is designed as a hybrid regulator with 5.0V fixed output and 3.0A output capability.SH123has the inherent characteristics of the monolithic 3-terminal regulators, full thermal overload, short circuit and safe area protection. All SH123 devices are packaged in hermetically sealed TO-3s providing 50W power dissipation. If the safe operating area is exceeded, the device shuts down rather than failing or damaging other stsrem components.
SH123 has seven features. (1)3.0A output current. (2)Internal current and thermal overload protection. (3)Internal short circuit protection. (4)Low dropout voltage (typical 2.0V at 3.0A). (5)50W power dissipation. (6)Steel TO-3 package. (7)All pin-for-pin compatible with the LM323, SG323. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of SH123 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its input voltage would be 40V. (2)Its input-to-output voltage would be 35V for output short circuited. (3)Its internal power dissipation would be 50W at 25°C case. (4)Its operating junction temperature would be 150°C. (5)Its operating temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. (6)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. (7)Its pin temperature soldering 60s would be 300°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
