The S2818 is designed as one kind of silicon NPN triple diffused MESA types. Typical applications is color TV horizontal output application.

S2818 has five features. (1)High voltage Vces=1500V. (2)Low saturation voltage which would be max 1V. (3)High speed which means tf=0.7us typ. (4)Built-in dumper type. (5)Glass passivated collector-base junction. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of S2818 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its collector to emitter voltage would be 1500V. (2)Its emitter to base voltage would be 5V. (3)Its collector current DC would be 5A and peak would be 7.5A. (4)Its base current peak would be 4A. (5)Its total power dissipation would be 12.5W. (6)Its junction temperature would be 115°C. (7)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 115°C. (8)Its thermal resistance would be 1.6°C/W. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to S2818.

Also some electrical characteristics of S2818 are concluded as follow. (1)Its collector cut-off current would be max 1mA. (2)Its emitter to base breakdown voltage would be min 5V. (3)Its DC current gain would be min 2.25. (4)Its collector to emitter saturation voltage would be max 5V. (5)Its base-emitter saturation voltage would be max 1.5V with conditions of Ic=4.5A and Ib=2A. (6)Its forward voltage diode would be typ 1.4V and max 2.0V. (7)Its collector to emitter sustaining voltage would be min 700V with conditions of Ic=100mA and Ib=0 and L=25mH. (8)Its transition frequency would be typ 7MHz. (9)Its collector output capacitance would be 125pF. (10)Its switching time would be typ 0.7us for fall time and would be typ 10us for storage time. And so on.
