The Sharp RY6FD11E and RY6FD1SE are 5.0 V infrared transceiver modules, providing the interface between logic and IR signals for through-air, serial, half-duplex IR wireless data links and is designed to satisfy the IrDA physical layer specifications.
The RY6FD1SE is a shielded version of the RY6FD11E. These units are otherwise the same in all respects, and the RY6FD11E will be discussed herein.
The Sharp RY6FD11E contains a high speed, high efficiency, low power-consumption AlGaAs LED, a silicon PIN photodiode, and bipolar integrated circuit. The IC contains a LED driver circuit and a receiver, that provides two RX output depending on the data rate, supporting both 9.6 to 115.2 kbps IrDA 1.0 signals and 4 Mbps IrDA 1.1 signal.
Applications for RY6FD1SE include notebook PCs, PDAs, Handheld type PCs, LANs, telephones, pagers, printers, and digital cameras.
