The RY5KD01/K IR Front End module is designed to be fully compatible with IrDA 1.0 and 1.1 data communication. The SHARP Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) Data format is also supported by this device.
This unit of the RY5KD01 is smaller than previous units also offered by SHARP: 13.00 mm × 5.00 mm × 5.00 mm. An integral EMI shield is provided to reduce the effect of external fields. Operating voltage is 3.3 V, and will operate to 5 V.
A Shutdown control of the RY5KD01 is provided to place the device in a 1 µA low power mode when IrDA transmission is not required. A circuit diagram and component values for a typical interface are provided. A mechanical diagram is also shown. Complete specifications are available from our website or upon request. Our RY5FD0KM is a direct interface MODEM IC for all our IrDA modes of operation and SHARP ASK. An external SCC is added for 1.152 Mbps operation.
