      The QT1106 charge-transfer ('QT') QTouchTM IC,which allows electrodes to project sense fields through any dielectric such as glass or plastic, is a self-contained, patented charge-transfer capacitive controller.The QT1106 could be used to detect near-proximity or touch on up to seven electrodes and a wheel.These electrodes are laid out as a scroller (e.g. a wheel or slider) plus seven additional independent keys.You could simply chang a corresponding external Cs capacitor by turn each key channel for a unique sensitivity level.However the wheel/slider's sensitivity can be changed dynamically through SPI commands. The QT1106 is designed specifically for human interfaces.You could use it for control panels, appliances, gaming devices, lighting controls,remote controls, or anywhere a mechanical wheel, slider, or switch.
      The QT1106 has five applications.The first one is mp3 players.The second one is PC peripherals.The third one is remote controls.The fourth one is mobile phones.The last one is appliance controls.It also has eleven features.The first one is patented charge-transfer ('QT') design.The second is wheel or slider plus seven extra keys.The third one is QMagic™ proximity effect for 'approach on' function.The fourth one is fast thermal drift tracking.The fifth one is 2.8V ~ 5.0V single supply operation.The sixth one is 100% autocal for life - no adjustments required.The seventh one is SPI five-wire interface.The eighth one is fully debounced results.The ninth one is patented AKS™ adjacent key suppression.Tne tenth one is spread-spectrum bursts for superior noise rejection.The last one is RoHS compliant 32-QFN package.
      Some absolute maximum specifications of QT1106 .The first one is operating temperature(Ta) should be within -40 and +850°C.The second one is storage temp(Ts) shoule be within -50 and +1250°C.The third one is that Vdd should be within -0.3 and +6.0V.The fourth one is max continuous pin current(any control or drive pin) should be ±20mA.The fifth one is about short circuit duration to ground or Vdd(any pin) could be infinite.The last one is voltage forced onto any pin which should be within -0.3V and (Vdd + 0.3) Volts.
      There are some notes about QT1106 design.The first one is the oscillator uses an external network connected to the OSC and SPREAD pins.The second one is that the QT1106 offers the ability to spectrally spread its frequency of operation to heavily reduce susceptibility to external noise sources and to limit RF emissions.The third one is the Cs sample capacitors accumulate the charge from the key electrodes and determine sensitivity.The fourth one is that its design provides a stable reference for increased thermal stability.The fifth one is that the power supply can range from 2.8 to 5.0 volts.
