The Q1401 is designed as K=7 rate 1/2 single-chip viterbi decoder. It operates with hard-decision or 8-level quantized soft-decision symbol inputs, providing capability for automatic synchronization to BPSK, OPSK and OQPSK modem phase ambiguities.
Q1400D has eight features. The first one is stand-along full-duplex encode/decode operation in a single VLSI device (no external circuitry required). The next one is hard or soft decision (8-level) inputs. The next one is simple interfacing. The next one is coding gain greater than 5dB at 10^-5 BER. The next one is capability to operate at higher code rates. The next one is data rates up to 17Mbps. The next one is on-chip channel error monitoring. The next one is automatic phase synchronization to BPSK, OPSK and OQPSK modem equipment. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of Q1400D have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -65°C to +150°C. The next one is about its operating temperature range which would be from 0°C to +70°C or -55°C to +125°C. The next one is about its maximum junction temperature during stress or life test which would be +150°C. The next one is about its negative voltage on any pin which would be -0.3V. The next one is about its positive voltage on any pin which would be Vdd + 0.3V. The next one is about its positive voltage on Vdd and any output pin which would be +7.0V. The next one is about its lead temperature on any pin (10 seconds max) which would be +260°C. It should be noted that exceeding the ratings listed in this section may cause permanent damage to the device. And so on.
