The PM series is designed as aluminum electrolytic capacitors with extremely low impedance and high reliability.
PM series has three features. The first one is that it would have high reliability withstanding 5000 hour load life at +105°C (3000/2000 hours for smaller case sizes as specified below). The next one is that its capacitance ranges would be available based on the numerical values in E12 series under JIS. The next one is that it would be adapted to the RoHS directive (2002/95/EC). That are all the main features.
Some important specifications of PM series have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its category temperature range which would be from 55 to +105°C for 6.3 to 100V and would be from 40 to +105°C for 160 to 400V and would be from 25 to +105°C for 450V. The next one is about its rated voltage range which would be from 6.3V to 450V. The next one is about its rated capacitance range which would be from 0.47F to 15000F. The next one is about its capacitance tolerance which would be ±20% at 120Hz, 20°C. The next one is about its leakage current which would be after 1 minute's application of rated voltage, leakage current is not more than 0.03CV or 4 (A), whichever is greater with condition of 6.3V to 100V and would be CV <= 1000 : I = 0.1CV+40 (A) max. (1 minute's) and CV > 1000 : I = 0.04CV+100 (A) max. (1 minute's) with condition of 16-V to 450V. The next one is about its tan which would be max 0.22 at 6.3V and 0.19 at 10V and 0.16 at 16V and 0.14 at 25V and 0.12 at 35V and 0.10 at 50V and 0.08 at 63V to 100V and 0.20 at 160V to 350V and 0.25 at 400V to 450V. The next one is about its endurance which means after an application of D.C. bias voltage plus the rated ripple current for 5000 hours (2000 hours for D = 5 and 6.3, 3000 hours for D=8) at 105°C the peak voltage shall not exceed the rated D.C. voltage, capacitors meet the characteristic requirements listed at right.
