The OPF1402 is one member of the OPFI4XX series. The OPFI4XX series fiber optic transmitters contain a high speed 840 nm GaAIAs LED. This LED in conjunction with the package tensing is designed to efficiently couple light into optical fibers ranging in size from 50/125 m up to 200 pm PCS.These devices were designed to work together with the Optek OPF24XX series receivers to make-up a complete high speed fiber optic link.
Features of the OPF1402 are:(1)low cost; (2)high speed; (3)no mounting hardware required; (4)wide temperature range; (5)100% LED burn-In (96 hours); (6)SMA or ST' Style ports; (7)wave solderable. In no event shall Sensitron Semiconductor be liable for any damages that may result from an accident or any other cause during operation of the user's units according to the datasheet(s). Sensitron Semiconductor assumes no responsibility for any intellectual property claims or any other problems that may result from applications of information, products or circuits described in the datasheets.
The absolute maximum ratings of the OPF1402 can be summarized as:(1)reverse input voltage:1.8V;(2)storage temperature:-55 to 85;(3)operating temperature:-40 to 85;(4)lead soldering temperature:260;(5)forward input current DC:100mA.The high coupling efficiency of the LED and tensing allows the devices to be used at low current drive levels thus decreasing the power consumption and increasing system reliability. The consistency of coupling varies by less than 5 dB from part to part which reduces the dynamic range requirements of the receiver. The high power(-16.5 dBm into 50/125 m) OPF14X4 was designed for small fiber applications or where there are large fixed losses such as in systems that contain star couplers or in line connectors. The OPF14X2(-11.5 dBm optical power) is ideal for 100/140 m fiber applications. This component of OPF1402 is susceptible to damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). Normal static precautions should be taken in handling and assembly of this component to prevent ESD damage or degradation.
