The OPB815W is a kind of deep gap slotted optical switch which consists of an infrared emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor mounted in a low cost plastic housing on opposite sides of a 0.375" (9.53 mm) wide, 0.430" (10.9 mm) deep slot. Avaliable with PC board mountable leads as OPB815L. Phototransistor switching takes place whenever an opaque object passes through the slot.
The features of OPB815W can be summarized as (1)non-contact switching; (2)24" minimum, 26 AWG wire leads; (3)0.375" (9.53 mm) wide slot; (4)0.430" (10.92 mm) deep slot.
The absolute maximum ratings of OPB815W are (1)storage and operating temperature: -40 to +80°C; (2)lead soldering temperature [1/16 inch (1.6 mm) from case for 5 sec. with soldering iron]: 240°C(RMA flux is recommended. Duration can be extended to 10 sec. max when flow soldering.); (3)continous forward current:50mA; (4)peak forward current(1s pulse width, 300pps): 3.0A; (5) power dissipation: 100mW; (6) collector-emitter voltage: 30V; (7)emitter-collector voltge: 5.0V; (8)power disspation: 100mW(Derate linearly 1.67mW/°C above 25°C).
