Description

The MCP4822 series of DACs offers 12-bit resolution coupled with low power consumption and small packages. Communication with the device is accomplished via a simple serial interface using the SPI protocols. These DACs come with excellent differential non-linearity of less than ±3/4 LSB, making them well suited for set point control, offset adjustment and calibration applications. The low power consumption and small packages make these devices attractive for many portable and battery-powered applications. Both single and dual channel devices are available.Consider using the MCP4922 if you do not need an internal VREF.

The Microchip Technology Inc. MCP4822 devices are 2.7V - 5.5V, low-power, low DNL, 12-bit Digital-to-Analo Converters (DACs) with internal band gap voltage reference, optional 2x-buffered output and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPITM).

The MCP4822 family of DACs provide high accuracy and low noise performance for industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals (such as temperature, pressure and humidity) are required. The MCP482X devices are available in the extended temperature range and PDIP, SOIC and MSOP packages.

The MCP4822 devices utilize a resistive string architecture, with its inherent advantages of low DNL error, low ratio metric temperature coefficient and fast settling time. These devices are specified over the extended temperature range. The MCP482X family includes double-buffered registers, allowing simulta- pin. These MCP4822s also neous updates using the LDAC incorporate a Power-On Reset (POR) circuit to ensure reliable power-up.
