The MC74HC595AD is designed as 8-bit serial-input/serial or parallel-output shift register with latched 3-state outputs which would be high performance silicon gate CMOS.
MC74HC595AD has eight features. (1)Output drive capability: 15 LSTTL loads. (2)Outputs directly interface to CMOS, NMOS, and TTL. (3)Operating voltage range would be from 2.0 to 6.0V. (4)Low input current: 1.0uA. (5)High noise immunity characteristic of CMOS devices. (6)In compliance with the requirements defined by JEDEC standard No. 7A. (7)Chip complexity: 328 FETs or 82 equivalent gates. (8)Improvements over HC595 which means improved propagation delays and 50% lower quiescent power and improved input noise and latchup immunity. Those are all the main features.
