The MC14442 ADC is a 28-pin bus compatible 8-bit A/D converter with additional digital input capability. The device operates from a single 5 supply and provides direct interface to the MPU data bus used with all Motorola M6800 family p8r'tS. lt performs an 8-bit conversion in 32 machine cycles and allows up to ll analog inputs. In addition, MC14442 can accept up to 6 digital inputs. These inputs are designed to be either analog or digital inputs. All necessary logic for software configuration, channel selection, conversion control, and bus interface is included.
The features of MC14442 can be summarized as (1)direct interface to M6800 family MPUs; (2)dynamic successive approximation A/D; (3)32 s conversion at fE=1.0MHz; (4)ratiometric conversion; (5)completely programmable; (6)5 dedicated analog inputs; (7)6 inputs usable for either analog or digital signals; (8)completely TTL compatible inputs at full speed with supply voltage of 5V±10%; (9)monotonic over complete input range.
The absolute maximum ratings of MC14442 are (1)VDD DC supply voltage (referenoed to VSS): -0.5 to +6.5V; (2)Vin DC input voltage (referenced to VSS): -0 .5 to VDD+0.5V; (3)Vout DC output voltage (referenced to VSS): -0.5 to VDD+0.5V; (4)DC input current, per Pin: ±10 mA; (5)Iout DC output current, per Pin: ±10 mA; (6)DC supply current, VDD and VSS Pins: ±20 mA; (7)power dissipation, per package: 500mW; (8)Tstg storage temperature: - 65 to + 150°C; (9)TL lead temperature(10-second soldering): -65 to +150°C.(maximum ratings are those values beyond which damage to the device may occur).
