The MAX202CDR is designed as 5V dual RS-32 line driver/receiver with +/-15kV ESD protection which meets the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and provides the electrical interface between an asynchronous communication controller and the serial-port connector.
MAX202CDR has seven features. (1)ESD protection for RS-232 bus pins ±15kV human-body model. (2)Meets or exceeds the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards. (3)Operates at 5V Vcc supply. (4)Operates up to 120kbit/s. (5)External capacitors 4*0.1F. (6)Latch-up performance exceeds 100mA per JESD 78, class II. (7)Typical applications include battery-powered systems, PDAs, notebooks, laptops, palmtop PCs, and hand-held equipment. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of MAX202CDR have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage range would be from -0.3V to 6V. (2)Its positive charge pump voltage range V+ would be from Vcc-0.3V to 14V. (3)Its negative charge pump voltage range V- would be from -14V to 0.3V. (4)Its input voltage range would be from -0.3V to V+ +0.3V for drivers and would be +/-30V for receivers. (5)Its output voltage range would be from V- -0.3V to V+ +0.3V for drivers and would be -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V for receivers. (6)Its short-circuit duration would be continuous. (7)Its package thermal impadance would be 73°C/W. (8)Its operating virtual junction temperature would be 150°C. (9)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C.
