The LTC®3440 is a high efficiency, fixed frequency, Buck- oost DC/DC converter that operates from input voltages bove, below or equal to the output voltage. The topology ncorporated in the IC provides a continuous transfer unction through all operating modes*, making the product deal for single lithium-ion, multicell alkaline or NiMH pplications where the output voltage is within the battery oltage range.
The LTC3440 includes two 0.19W N-channel MOSFET witches and two 0.22W P-channel switches. Switching requencies up to 2MHz are programmed with an external esistor and the oscillator can be synchronized to an xternal clock. Quiescent current is only 25mA in Burst ode operation, maximizing battery life in portable applications.
Burst Mode operation is user controlled and can e enabled by driving the MODE/SYNC pin high. If the ODE/SYNC pin has either a clock or is driven low, then ixed frequency switching is enabled.
Other features include a 1mA shutdown, soft-start control, hermal shutdown and current limit. The LTC3440 is vailable in the 10-pin thermally enhanced MSOP ackage.
