Description

The LTC®1517-3.3 is a micropower charge pump DC/DCconverter that produces a regulated 3.3V output. The inputvoltage range of LTC1517-3.3 is 2V to 4.4V, allowing a single cell lithiumbattery to produce a regulated 3.3V output over the entire lifeof the battery. Extremely low operating current (typically 6µAwith no load) and low external parts count (one 0.1µF flyingcapacitor and two small bypass capacitors at VIN and VOUT)make the part ideally suited for small, light load battery-powered applications. The total printed circuit board area ofthe application circuit shown below is only 0.045in2.

The LTC1517-3.3 part operates as a Burst ModeTMswitched-capacitorvoltage doubler to produce a regulated output. The part hasthermal shutdown capability and cansurvive a continuousshort circuit from VOUT to GND. The device is available in a5-pin SOT-23 package.
