The LT1030CS is designed as an RS232 line driver that operates over a +/-5V to +/-15V range on low supply current and can be shut down to zero supply current. Outputs are fully protected from externally applied voltages of +/-30V by current limiting. Since the output swings to within 200mV of the positive supply and 1V of the negative supply, power supply needs are minimized.
LT1030CS has eight features. (1)Low operating voltage +/-5V to +/-15V. (2)500uA supply current. (3)Zero supply current when shut down. (4)Outputs can be driven +/-30V. (5)Output "open" when off (3-state). (6)10mA output drive. (7)Pin compatible with 1488. (8)Output of several devices can be paralleled. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of LT1030CS have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be +/-15V. (2)Its logic input pins would be V- to 25V. (3)Its ON-OFF pin would be GND to 12V. (4)Its output (forced) would be V- +30V, V+ -30V. (5)Its short circuit duration (to +/-30V) would be indefinite. (6)Its operating temperature range would be from 0°C to 70°C. (7)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (8)Its lead temperature (soldering 10sec) would be 300°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of LT1030CS are concluded as follow. (1)Its supply current would be typ 500uA and max 1000uA. (2)Its power supply leakage current would be typ 1uA and max 10uA for Von-off<=0.4V. (3)Its output voltage swing would be min V+ -0.3V and typ V+ -0.1V for positive and would be typ V- +0.9V and max V- +1.4V for negative. (4)Its output current would be min 5mA and typ 12mA for Vsupply +/-5V to +/-15V. (5)Its output overload voltage (forced) would be min V+ -30V and max V- +30V. (6)Its logic input would be typ 1.4V and max 0.8V for low input and would be min 2V and typ 1.4V for high input. And so on.
