The LP2989IMX-3.3 is designed as a fixed-output 500 mA precision LDO regulator designed for use with ceramic output capacitors. Output noise can be reduced to 18V (typical) by connecting an external 10 nF capacitor to the bypass pin. Typical applications include notebook / desktop PC, PDA / palmtop computer, wireless communication terminals and SMPS post-regulator.
LP2989IMX-3.3 has eleven features. (1) Ultra low dropout voltage. (2) Guaranteed 500 mA continuous output current. (3) Very low output noise with external capacitor. (4) SO-8 surface mount package. (5) <0.8 A quiescent current when shutdown. (6) Low ground pin current at all loads. (7) 0.75% output voltage accuracy ("A" grade). (8) High peak current capability (800 mA typical). (9) Wide supply voltage range (16V max). (10) Overtemperature / overcurrent protection. (11) -40°C to +125°C junction temperature range. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of LP2989IMX-3.3 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +150°C. (2) Its operating junction temperature range would be from -40°C to +125°C. (3) Its lead temperature (soldering, 5 seconds) would be 260°C. (4) Its ESD rating would be 2kV. (5) Its input supply voltage (survival) would be from -0.3V to +16V. (6) Its input supply voltage (operating) would be from 2.1V to +16V. (7) Its sense pin would be from -0.3V to +6V. (8) Its output voltage (survival) would be from -0.3V to +16V. (9) Its input output voltage (survival) would be from -0.3V to +16V.
