The LM776 is designed as programmable operational amplifier which is constructed using the planar epitaxial process. High input impedance, low supply currents, and low input noise over a wide range of operating supply voltages coupled with programmable electrical characteristics result in an extremely versatile amplifier for use in high accuracy, low power consumption analog applications.
LM776 has ten features. (1)Micropower consumption. (2)+/-1.2V to +/-18V operation. (3)No frequency compensation required. (4)Low input bias currents. (5)Wide programming range. (6)High slew rate. (7)Low noise. (8)Short circuit protection. (9)Offset null capability. (10)No latch up. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of LM776 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 175°C for metal can and would be from -65°C to 150°C for molded DIP. (2)Its operating temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C for extended and would be from 0°C to 70°C for commercial. (3)Its lead temperature would be 300°C for metal can soldering 60 seconds and would be 265°C for molded DIP soldering 10 seconds. (4)Its internal power dissipation would be 1.0W for 8L-metal can and would be 0.93W for 8L-molded DIP. (5)Its supply voltage would be +/-18V. (6)Its differential input voltage would be +/-30V. (7)Its input voltage would be +/-15V. (8)Its voltage between offset null and V- would be +/-0.5V. (9)Its Iset would be 500uA. (10)Its Vset would be from V+ -2.0V to V+. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may
cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of LM776 at Iset=1.5uA are concluded as follow. (1)Its input offset voltage would be ty 2.0mV and max 5.0mV. (2)Its input offset voltage adjustment range would be typ 9.0mV. (3)Its input offset current would be typ 0.7nA and max 3.0nA. (4)Its input bias current would be typ 2.0nA and max 7.5nA. And so on.
