The LM556C is one member of the LM556 family which is designed as the dual timer that can be used in (1)precision timing; (2)pulse generation; (3)sequential timing; (4)time delay generation; (5)pulse width modulation; (6)pulse position modulation; (7)linear ramp generator.  Features of the LM556C are:(1)direct replacement for SE556/NE556; (2)timing from microseconds through hours; (3)operates in both astable and monostable modes; (4)replaces two 555 timers; (5)adjustable duty cycle; (6)output can source or sink 200 mA; (7)output and supply TTL compatible; (8)temperature stability better than 0.005% per ; (9)normally on and normally off output.
