The LCP1521S has been especially designed to protect new high voltage, as well as classical SLICs, against transient overvoltages. Positive overvoltages are clamped by 2 diodes.Negative surges are suppressed by 2 thyristors,their breakdown voltage being referenced to -VBAT through the gate.These components present a very low gate triggering current (IGT) in order to reduce the current consumption on printed circuit board during the firing phase.A particular attention has been given to the internalwire bonding. The Kelvin method configuration ensures reliable protection, reducing the overvoltage introduced by the parasitic inductances of the wiring,especially for very fast transients.

The LCP1521S has many unique features: The first one is dual programmable transient suppressor. The second one is wide negative firing voltage range. The third one islow dynamic switching voltages. The forth one is low gate triggering current.The fifth one is low space consuming package.There are some absolute maximum ratings about it. Peak pulse power (8/20 ms)(PPP) is 100 W.Storage temperature range(Tstg) is - 55°C to + 150°C.Maximum junction temperature(Tj)is 150°C.Maximum lead temperature for soldering during 10s(TL) is 260 °C. Non repetitive surge peak on-state current(ITSM) 9s 10 A when t is 10 ms(50 Hz sinusoidal). maximum lead temperature for soldering during 10 s (TL) is 260°C.
