Description

The L78S00series ofthree-terminal positive regu-lators is available in TO-220 and TO-3 packages and with several fixed output voltages, making it usefulina widerange ofapplications. Theseregu-lators canprovidelocalon-cardregulation, eliminat-ingthedistribution problems associatedwith single pointregulation. Eachtypeemploysinternalcurrent limiting, thermal shut-down and safe area protec-tion,makingitessentially indestructible. Ifadequate heat sinking is provided, L78S00 can deliver over 2A outputcurrent. Althoughdesignedprimarily asfixed voltage regulators, thesedevices canbe usedwith external components to obtainadjustable voltages and currents.
