The L78LR05 is a voltage regulator IC that performs the reset signal generating function when the power supply of a microcomputer system is turned ON/OFF. The L78LR05 is a convenient for battery backup system at the time of po wer failure. The reset threshold voltage Vrt us ranked as listed below.

The L78LR05 has the following features:(1)5v,150mA output;(2)capable of generating a microcomputer reset signal;(3)no batery-regualator switching circuit required at the battery  backup mode(output leakage current:2uA or less);(4)an external capacitor can be usesd to set the reset output delay time;(5)applicable to the power sup[ply of CM OS,NMOS mocrocomputer;(6)especially suited for use ad an on-board regulator for a microcomputer system;(7)small-sized power package TP-5H pernitting the equipment to be made compact;(8)The allowable power diaaipation can be increased by being surface-mounted on the board.etc.

L78LR05 also has some outstanding absolute maximun ratings(Ta=25°C) and electrical characteristics(Ta=25°C,VIN=10 V,Iout=40mA,Cin=1uF,Co=10uF).Absolute maximun ratings:(1):maximum input voltage is 25 V;(2)allowable power dissipation is 1.0 W;(3)operating temperature is -30 to+780;(5)storage temperature is -55 to +150.electrical characteristics:(1)output voltage is 4.8V min,5.0 V typ and 5.2 V max when Tj is 25;(2)line regulation is 6.0 mV typ and 75 mV max when Tj is 25 and VIN is between 7V and 20 V;(3)current dissipation is 1.4 mA typ and 3.4 mA max when Tj is  25, and Iout is 100mA;(4)output noise voltage is 80 uA typ when f is between 10 Hz and 100kHz, I0=1 mA.etc.
