The L7805CV is one member of the L7800 series which is designed as three-terminal positive voltage regulators. L7805CV is available in TO-220, TO-220FP, TO-220FM, TO-3 and D2PAK packages and several fixed output voltages, making L7805CV useful in a wide range of applications.
L7805CV has five features. The first one is output current would to be 1.5A. The second one is output voltages would be of 5, 5.2, 6, 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 24V. The third one is thermal overload protection. The fourth one is short circuit protection. The fifth one is output transition SOA protection. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings OF THE L7805CV have been concluded into several points as follow. Its DC input voltage would be 35V for Vo=5 to 18V and L7805CV would be 40V for Vo=20, 24V. L7805CV's output current and power dissipation would be internally limited. Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. Its operating junction temperature range would be from 0°C to 150°C. Its thermal resistance junction to case max would be 5°C/W. Its thermal resistance junction to ambient max would be 50°C/W.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. L7805CV's output voltage would be min 4.8V and typ 5V and max 5.2V. IL7805CV's line regulation would be typ 3mV and max 100mV with condition of Vi=7V to 25V and it would be typ 1mV and max 50mV with condition of Vi=8 to 12V.
