DescriptionThe ISL8483EIP is one member of the ISL8483 family which is designed as the ESD protected to ±15kV, 5V, low power, high speed or slew rate limited, RS-485/RS-422 transceiver that can be used in (1)factory automation; (2)security networks; (3)building environmental control systems; (4)industrial/process control networks; (5)level translators (e.g., RS-232 to RS-422); (6)RS-232 extension cords. This device utilizes slew rate limited drivers which reduce EMI, and minimize reflections from improperly terminated transmission lines, or unterminated stubs in multidrop and multipoint applications.
Features of the ISL8483EIP are:(1)High Data Rate Version (ISL8485E): up to 5Mbps; (2)Slew Rate Limited Version for Error Free Data Transmission): up to 250kbps; (3)Single Unit Load Allows up to 32 Devices on the Bus; (4)1nA Low Current Shutdown Mode (ISL8483E); (5)Low Quiescent Current: 160 uA (ISL8483E) or 340 uA (ISL8485E); (6)-7V to +12V Common Mode Input Voltage Range; (7)Three State Rx and Tx Outputs; (8)30ns Propagation Delays, 5ns Skew (ISL8485E); (9)Operate from a Single +5V Supply (10% Tolerance); (10)Current Limiting and Thermal Shutdown for driver Overload Protection).
