The ISD5116 ChipCorder Product provides highquality, fully integrated, single-chipRecord/Playback solutions for 8- to 16-minutemessaging applications that are ideal for use incellular phones, automotive communications,GPS/navigation systems andother portableproducts. The ISD5116 product is an enhancementof the ISD5000 architecture, providing: 1) the I2Cserial port - address, control and duration selectionare accomplished through an I2C interface tominimize pin count (ONLY two control linesrequired); 2) the capability of the storage array tostore digital, in addition to analog, information.These features allow customers to store phonebook numbers, system configuration parametersand message address pointers for messagemanagement capability.Analog functions

Like other ChipCorder® products, the ISD5116integrates the sampling clock, anti-aliasing andsmoothing filters, and the multilevel storage arrayon a single-chip. For enhanced voice features, theISD5116 eliminates external circuitry by integratingautomatic gain control (AGC), a poweramplifier/speaker driver, volume control, summingamplifiers, analog switches, and a car kit interface.Input level adjustable amplifiers are also included,providing a flexible interface for multipleapplications.

Recordings are stored in on-chip nonvolatilememory cells, providing zero-power messagestorage. This unique, single-chip solution is madepossible through ISD's patented multilevel storagetechnology. Voice and audio signals are storeddirectly into solid-state memory in their natural,uncompressed form, providing superior qualityvoice and music reproduction.
