The HV41 and HV42 are low voltage serial to high voltage parallel converters with P-Channel open drain outputs. These devices have been designed for use as drivers for AC electroluminescent displays. They can also be used in any application requiring multiple output high voltage current source capabilities such as driving inkjet and electrostatic print heads, plasma panels, or vacuum fluorescent displays. These devices consist of a 32-bit shift register and control logic to perform the Output Enable and All-ON functions. Data is shifted through the shift register on the logic high to low transition of the clock. The HV41 shifts in the counterclockwise direction when viewed from the top of the package and the HV42 shifts in the clockwise direction. A data output buffer is provided for cascading devices. This output reflects the current status of the last bit of the shift register. Operation of the shift register is not affected by the OE (Output Enable) or the STR (Strobe) inputs. For applications requiring active pull down as well as pull up, the HV41 and HV42 can be paired with the HV52 and HV51 devices, respectively.
The features of HV41/HV42 can be summarized as (1)processed with HVCMOS@ technology; (2)output voltages to -225V; (3)source current minimum 80mA; (4)shift register speed 8MHz; (5)strobe and enable inputs; (6)CMOS compatible inputs; (7)forward and reverse shifting options; (8)44-lead plastic and ceramic surface mount packages; (9)Hi-Rel processing available; (10)can be used with the HV41 and HV42 to provide 200V push-pull operation.
The absolute maximum ratings of HV41/HV42 are (1)supply voltage, VDD: +0.5V to -15.5V; (2)supply voltage, VPP: +0.5V to -250V; (3)logic input levels: +0.5V to VDD -0.5V; (4)ground currents: 1.5A; (5)continuous total power dissipationt ceramic: 1500mW/Plastic: 1200mW; (6)lead temperature 1.6mm from case for 10 seconds: 260°C; (7)storage temperature range: -65°C to 150°C; (8) operating temperature range: -40°C to 85°C; (9)operating temperature range commercial commercial: -40°C to+85°C/military -55°C to +125°C.
