Description

The HCPL-7601 is a lowinput current version of theHCPL-2601 and 6N137(without enable). The optically coupled gates combine anAlGaAs high-efficiency lightemitting diode and an integratedhigh gain photon detector to create a low input current devicefor low power applications. The output of the HCPL-7601 detector IC is an open collector Schottky-clampedtransistor. The internal shieldprovides a guaranteed commonmode transient immunityspecification of 10,000 V/us(HCPL-7611).

This unique design of HCPL-7601  provides maximum ac and dc circuitisolation while achieving CMOSand TTL compatibility. Theoptocoupler ac and dcoperational parameters areguaranteed from -40 Degree C to 85 Degree Cwith no derating requiredallowing trouble free systemperformance. This product issuitable for high speed logicinterfacing, input/outputbuffering, and applications thatrequire low input-currentswitching levels.

The HCPL-7601 offersmany features that areespecially beneficial to systemdesigners. The low inputcurrent requirements andguaranteed switching threshold(2 mA max.) allows the LED tobe driven directly by anystandard high-speed CMOS gate(e.g. 74HC/HCT). This willsimplify designs by eliminatingthe need for special drivercircuits and result in lower partcounts and greater systemreliability while freeing upvaluable printed circuit boardspace.The wide current input range of 2 mA to 10 mA and guaranteedac and dc performance over awide temperature range will also simplify designs. Lowsupply current requirementsmean lower power dissipationallowing for the use of asmaller, less expensive powersupply. The high speed (10 Mbdtyp.) and low propagation delayskew (Tpsk <= 40 ns guaranteed)allow for easier design of highspeed parallel applications. The world-wide regulatory approval(UL/CSA/VDE 0884) willfacilitate the acceptance of theend product in international markets.
