Description

The FPF2174 is a load switch which combines the functionalityof the IntelliMAXTM series load switch with a very low forwardvoltage drop Schottky barrier rectifier and a zener clamp at theoutput. The integrated solution FPF2174 provides full protection tosystems and loads which may encounter large currentconditions in a very compact MLP 3x3 package. FPF2174 contain a 0.125Ω current-limited P-channel MOSFET which canoperate over an input voltage range of 1.8-5.5V. The Schottkydiode acts as a barrier so that no reverse current can flow whenthe MOSFET is off and the output voltage is higher than theinput voltage. Switch control is by a logic input (ON) capable ofinterfacing directly with low voltage control signals. Each partcontains thermal shutdown protection which shuts off the switchto prevent damage to the part when a continuous over-currentcondition causes excessive heating.

When the switch current reaches the current limit, the partoperates in a constant-current mode to prohibit excessivecurrents from causing damage. If the constant current conditionstill persists after 10ms, these parts will shut off the switch andpull the fault signal pin (FLAGB) low. The switch FPF2174 will remain offuntil the ON pin is cycled. The minimum current limit is 200mA.

FPF2174 is available in a space-saving 6L MLP 3x3package.
