As wireless handsets support more and more advanced multimedia capabilities, data rates between the host processor and high resolution displays and cameras are increasing accordingly. As a result, platform designers need to address more and more challenging issues in terms of power consumption and complexity. The MDDI high speed serial interface alleviates all of these issues by significantly reducing the number of lines routed between modules CM5100 (often through a highly sensitive flexible cable), leading to a less complex, lower power and lower cost design.
California Micro Devices&prime CM5100 is a fully compliant MDDI end-to-end solution from the MDDI pipe to the LCD panel. The CM5100 supports the MDDI client Type I interface and features display interfaces to control both the primary and secondary panels through generic RGB or MPU interfaces, as well as connectivity solutions to interface with external I2C slave devices or the audio codec. The CM5100 supports all types of packets including video, audio and control streams, and manages the refresh of a main display of resolution up to QVGA. It is housed in a small wafer level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP).
