The CD4017BCN is designed as a 5-stage divide-by-10 johnson counter with 10 decoded outputs and a carry out bit. Typical applications include automative, instrumentation, medical electronics, alarm systems, industrial electronics and remote metering.
CD4017BCN has seven features. (1)Wide supply voltage range 3.0V to 15V. (2)High noise immunity 0.45Vdd typ. (3)Low power fan out of 2 driving 74L or 1 driving 74LS. (4)TTL compatibility. (5)Medium speed operation 5.0MHz typ with 10V Vdd. (6)Low power 10uW typ. (7)Fully static operation. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)CD4017BCN's DC supply voltage would be from -0.5Vdc to +18Vdc. (2)CD4017BCN's input voltage would be from -0.5Vdc to Vdd+0.5Vdc. (3)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (4)Its power dissipation would be 700mW for dual in line and would be 500mW for small outline. (5)Its lead temperature soldering 10 seconds would be 260°C. CD4017BCN should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
