Description

The BQ24012DRCR is one member of the BQ24012 series.There is an internal electrical connection between the exposed thermal pad  and Vss  pin of the device. The exposed thermal pad must be connected to the same potential as the Vss pin on the printed circuit board. Do not use the thermal pad as the primary ground input for the device. Vss pin must be connected to ground at all times.As a safety backup, the bqTINY BQ24012DRCR also monitors the charge time in the charge mode. If termination does not occur within this time period, t(CHG), the bqTINY turns off the charger and enunciates FAULT on the STAT1 and STAT1 pins. Refer to the Timer Fault Recovery section for additional details.

Features of the BQ24012DRCR are:(1)small 3 mm * 3 mm MLP (QFN) package; (2)ideal for low-dropout designs for single-cell li-ion or li-pol packs in space limited applications; (3)integrated power FET and current sensor for up to 1-A charge applications; (4)reverse leakage protection prevents battery drainage; (5)integrated current and voltage regulation; (6)± 0.5% voltage regulation accuracy; (7)charge termination by minimum current and time; (8)precharge conditioning with safety timer; (9)status outputs for LED or system interface indicates charge and fault conditions; (10)battery insertion and removal detection; (11)works with regulated and unregulated supplies; (12)short-circuit protection.

The absolute maximum ratings of the BQ24012DRCR can be summarized as:(1)junction temperature range:-40 to 125;(2)storage temperature:-65 to 150;(3)operating free-air temperature range:-40 to 125;(4)supply voltage range:-0.3 to 18V;(5)lead temperature 1,6 mm (1/16 inch) from case for 10 seconds:300;(6)output current:1.5A;(7)output sink/source current:15mA.Stressing the device above the rating listed in the Absolute Maximum Ratings table may cause permanent damage to the device. Exposure to Absolute Maximum Rating conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.Voltage regulation feedback is accomplished through the BAT pin. This input is tied directly and close to the positive side of the battery pack.The bqTINY monitors the battery-pack voltage between the BAT and VSS pins. When the battery voltage rises to VO(REG) threshold, the voltage regulation phase begins and the charging current begins to taper down.
