The BQ2002GPN is type of low-cost CMOS battery-charge controllers.It offers reliable charge termin ation for both NiCd and NiMH battery applications. Controlling a current-limited or constant-current supply makes the BQ2002GPN be the basis for a costeffective stand-alone or system-integrated charger. The BQ2002GPN integrates fast charge with optional top-off and pulsed- trickle control in a single IC for charging one or more NiCd or NiMH bat tery cells.Fast charge is initiated on application of the charging supply or battery replacement.Fast charge is inhibited if the battery temperature and voltage are outside configured limits to ensure safty.
The BQ2002GPN has the following features:(1)fast charge of nickel cadmium or nickel-metal hydride batteries;(2)direct LED output displays charge status;(3)fast-charge termination by - V,maximum voltage, maximum temperat ure, and maximum time;(4)internal band-gap voltage reference;(5)optional top-off charge;(6)selectable pulse trickle charge rates;(7)low-power mode;(8)8-pin 300-mil DIP or 150-mil SOIC.
BQ2002GPN also has some outstanding absolute maximum ratings(Ta=0 to 70°C) and recommended DC operating conditions. absolute maximum ratings:(1):VCC relative to VSS is -0.3 V min and+7.0 V max;(2):DC voltage applied on any pin excluding VCC relative to VSS is -0.3 V min and +7.0 V max;(3):operating ambient temperature is 0°C min to +70 °C max (Commercial);(4):storage temperature is -40°C min and +85 °C;(5):soldering temperature is +260 °C(10 sec max);(6):temperature under bias is -40 °C min and +85 °C max.recommended DC operating conditions:(1): Supply voltage is 4.0 V min,5.0 V typ and 6.0 V max;(2):-V, PVD detect voltage is 1V min and - 2 V max;(3):battery input is 0 V min and VCC V max;(4):thermistor input is 0.5 V to VCC V(VTS < 0.5V prohibited);(5):logic input high is 0.5 V min(INH);(6):logic input high is VCC - 0.5 V (TM);(7):supply current is 500 A max wwhen Outputs is unload ed and VCC is 5.1V;(8):standby current is 1 A max when VCC is 5.1V and VBAT is VPD.etc.
