The BAT86 is designed as planar schottky barrier diode with an integrated protection ring against static discharges, encapsulated in a hermetically-sealed subminiature SOD68 (DO-34) package. The diode is suitable for mounting on a 2 E (5.08 mm) pitch. It typical applications include ultra high-speed switching, voltage clamping, protection circuits and blocking diodes.
BAT86 has three features. (1)Low forward voltage. (2)Guard ring protected. (3)Hermetically-sealed leaded glass package. Those are all the main features.
Also some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)BAT86's continuous reverse voltage would be 50V. (2)Its continuous forward current would be 200mA. (3)Its average forward current would be 200mA. (4)Its repetitive peak forward current would be 500mA. (5)Its non-repetitive peak forward current would be 5A. (6)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +150°C. (7)Its junction temperature would be 125°C. (8)Its operating ambient temperature range would be from -65°C to +125°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)BAT86's forward voltage would be max 300mV at If=0.1mA and max 380mV at If=1mA and max 450mV at If=10mA and max 600mV at If=30mA and max 900mV at If=100mA. (2)Its reverse current would be max 5uA. (3)Its reverse recovery time would be max 4ns when switched from If=10mA to Ir=10mA; RL=100ohms; measured at Ir=1mA. (4)Its diode capacitance would be max 8pF with conditions of f=1MHz and Vr=1V. (5)Its thermal resistance from junction to ambient would be 320K/W. And so on.
