Description

The Am29F400B is a 4 Mbit, 5.0 volt-only Flash memory organized as 524,288 bytes or 262,144 words.The device is offered in 44-pin SO and 48-pin TSOP packages. The word-wide data (x16) appears onDQ0. This device is designed to be programmed insystem with the standard system 5.0voltVCCsupply.A12.0 is not required for write or erase operations. The device can also be programmed in standard EPROM programmers.

Am29F400B is manufactured using AMD's 0.35 µmprocess technology, and offers all the features and benefits of the Am29F400, whichwasmanufacturedusing 0.5 µm process technology.The standard device offers access times of 55, 60, 70,90, 120, and 150 ns, allowing high speed microprocessors toperatewithout wait states. To eliminate buscontention the device has separate chip enable write enable and output enable controls.

Am29F400Brequires only a single 5.0 volt power supplyfor both read and write functions. Internally gener-ated and regulated voltages are provided for the program and erase operations.

Hardware data protectionmeasures include a lowdetector that automatically inhibits write operahardware sector/protectionfeature disables both program and eraseoperations in any combination of the sectors of memory. This can be achieved via programming equipment.Erase Suspend feature enables the user to puterase on hold for any period of time to read data from,or program data to, any sector that is not selected forerasure. True background erase can thus be achieved.hardware RESET pin terminates any operationn progress and resets the internal state machine toreading array data. The RESETpin may be tied to thesystem reset circuitry. A system reset would thus alsoreset Am29F400B, enabling the system microprocessorstandby mode.Power consumption is greatly reduced in this mode.
