The AP0824 is designed as one kind of microcontroller which is typically a Harvard architecture where program and data areas are held in seperate memory areas. The program and data memory areas use the same physical address range from 0000H - FFFFH and a 8 bit instruction code/data format. And in some applications, using the 80C5xx/C5xx architecture, there is a need for more than 64 kByte external program memory space. This request becomes more and more important due to the increased usage of the high level language C51.
The following schematic shows an example of how to connect an external 512 kByte program memory and a 64 kByte data memory to the C5xx microcontro-ller family. For the program memory, a standard EPROM/EEPROM/FLASH can be used. A static RAM serves as external data memory. If you want to know more information such as the electrical characteristics about the AP0824, please download the datasheet in www.seekic.com or www.chinaicmart.com .
