The ADP31941 is a highly efficient, multiphase, synchronous uck switching regulator controller optimized for converting a V or 12 V main supply into the core supply voltage required y high performance Intel processors. It uses an internal 6-bit AC to read a voltage identification (VID) code directly from he processor that is used to set the output voltage between .8375 V and 1.6 V. The device uses a multimode PWM architecture o drive the logic-level outputs at a programmable witching frequency that can be optimized for VR size and fficiency. The phase relationship of the output signals can be rogrammed to provide 2-, 3-, or 4-phase operation, allowing or the construction of up to four complementary buck switching tages.
The ADP3194 also includes programmable, no-load offset, nd slope functions to adjust the output voltage as a function f the load current, so it is always optimally positioned for a ystem transient. The ADP3194 also provides accurate and eliable short-circuit protection, adjustable current limiting, nd a delayed power good output that accommodates on-thefly OTF) output voltage changes requested by the CPU.
