      The AD7581 is a microprocessor compatible 8 bit , 8 channel , memory buffered, data-acquisition system on a monolithic CMOS chip. It consists of an 8 bit successive approximation A/D converter, an 8 channel multiplexer , 8*8 dual-port RAM, three-state DATA driver(for interface),address latches and microprocessor compatible control logic. The device interface directly to 8080,8085,Z80, 6800 and other microprocessor systems.
     AD7581 has eleven unique features. The first one is 8-bit resolution. The second one is on-chip 8*8 dual-port memory. The third one is no missed codes over full temperature range. The forth one is interfaces directly to Z80/8085/8800. The fifth one is CMOS,TTL compatible digital inputs. The sixth one is three-state data drivers. The seventh one is ratiometric capability.The eighth one is interleaved DMA operation. The ninth one is fast conversion. The tenth one is A/D process totally temperature to P. The eleventh one is low cost.
     There are some absolute maximum ratings aboutAD7581. VDD to AGND is +7 V. VDD to DGND is +7V. AGND to DGND is -0.3V to VDD. Digital input voltage to DGND(pins 13,16-19) is -0.3 V to VDD+0.3 V. Digital output voltage to DGND( pins 12, 20-27) is -0.3 V to VDD + 0.3V. CLK(pin 15) input voltage to DGND is -0.3V to VDD+0.3 V. VREF(pin 10 ) to AGND is ±25 V. VBOFS(pin 1) to AGND is ±17 V. AIN(0-7)(pin 9-2) is ±17V. Operating temperature range: commercial(J,K,L version) is 0 to +70 ; Industrial(A,B,C version) is -25 to +85. Storage temperature is -65 to +150. Lead temperature(soldering , 10 secs) is +300.
     At last, there are some circuit information about AD7581. It accepts eight analog inputs and sequentially converts cach into an eight-bit binary word using the successive approximation technique. The conversion results are scored in an 8*8 bit dual-port RAM. The device runs either directly from the microprocessor clock(in 6800 type systems) or from the some suitable signal(e.g.ALE in 8085 type systems). Most applications require only a-10 V refernce and a+5V supply. Start-up logic is included on the device to establish the correct sequences for this period.
