The 89C024XE is designed as high performance 2400 BPS intelligent modem chip set.

89C024XE has many features. The first one is support for error correction. The second one is optional MNP class 4/5. The third one is CHMOS. The fourth one is for public switched telephone network and unconditioned leased lines applications. The fifth one is V.22 bis, V.22 A/B, V.21, bell 212A, and bell 103 compatible. The sixth one is serial command set compatible with hayes smartmodem 2400. The seventh one is automatically adapts to remote modem type with recognition of data rates. The eighth one is DTMF and pulse dialing, with automatic selection of dial signaling. The ninth one is on-chip hybrid and billing delay timer. The tenth one is on-chip serial port and handshake signals for RS-232/V.24 interface. The eleventh one is telephone line audio monitor output. and so on. That are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 89C024XE have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its temperature under bias which would be from -10°C to +80°C. The second one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -40 to +125°C. The third one is about its voltage from any pin to Vss or AGND which would be from -0.3V to +7.0V. The fourth one is about its average output current from any pin which would be 10mA. The fifth one is about its power dissipation which would be 1.5W.
