The Link Street family of products provides industry-leading functionality for advanced, secure gateway routers. The Link Street 88E6318 deviceÕs higher integration allows OEM and ODMs to deliver enterprise class features and performance at entry-level prices in a small footprint. The device integrates a high-performance CPU for wire-speed routing of network packets. The integrated security engine offers the most complete set of security functions in an integrated router device. The PCI bus allows manufacturers to use the same router device in both wired-only as well as wireless gateway router products. Figure 2 shows the 88E6318 device in a VPN Þrewall router application.

The Marvell Link Street 88E6318 device is the most advanced single-chip router device integrating a high-performance CPU for wire-speed routing, an enterprise-class VPN acceleration engine, an advanced switching fabric with Quality of Service (QoS) support, Þve integrated Fast Ethernet (FE) PHYs, one MII port, a PCI host bus for connecting external peripherals such as wireless LAN modules, an IEEE 1284 parallel printer port for printer server application, two UARTs connecting to an external console and external modem, and the industryÕs most advanced and highly sought-after Virtual Cable Testerª (VCT) technology for advanced cable diagnostics. The 88E6318 device is an ideal gateway router solution for remote ofÞces, small businesses, high-end residential broadband gateway routers, and multi-tenant unit (MTU) gateways.
