84220 has many features. The first one is single chip 100baseTX / 100baseFX / 10baseT physical layer solution. The second one is four independent channels in one IC. The third one is 3.3V power supply with 5V tolerant I/O. The fourth one is dual speed - 10/100 Mbps. The fifth one is half and full duplex. The sixth one is MII interface or reduced pin count MII (RMII) interface to ethernet controller. The seventh one is MI interface for configuration and status.
