8237A

The 8237A is designed as high performance programmable DMA controller for inprove system performance by allowing external devices to directly transfer information from the system memory.

8237A has many features. The first one is enable / disable control of indicidual DMA requests. The second one is four independent DMA channels. The third one is independent autoinitialization of all channels. The fourth one is memory to memory transfers. The fifth one is memory block initialization. The sixth one is addres increment or decrement. The seventh one is high performance which means transfers up to 1.6M bytes / second with 5 MHz 8237A-5. The eighth oneis directly expandable to any number of channels. The ninth one is end of process inputs for terminating transders. The tenth one is software DMA requests. The eleventh one is about its independent polarity control for DREQ and DACK signals. The twelfth one is it would be available in EXPRESS - standard temperature range. The thirteenth one is it would be available in 40-lead cerdip and plastic packages. That are all the features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 8237A have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its ambient temperature under bias which would be from 0°C to 70°C. The second one is about its case temperature which would be from 0°C to 75°C. The third one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -65°C to +150°C. The fourth one is about its voltage on any pin with respect to ground which would be from -0.5V to +7V. The fifth one is about its power dissipation which would b 1.5W.
