8101

The 8101 is designed as gigabit ethernet controller for gigabit applications. It integrates the media access control sublayer (MAC) and the physical coding sublayer (PCS) for fiber and short haul copper media.

8101 has many features. The first one is pin compatile upgrade of seeq 2100. The second one is combined ethernet MAC and 2B10B PCS. The third one is data rate would be 100Mbps. The fourth one is 64-bit at 66MHz interface to external bus - 4 Gbps bandwidth. The fifth one is 10-bit interface to external PHY or SerDes chip. The sixth one is 16-bit interface ti internal registers and management counters. The seventh one is full RMON, SNMP, ethernet management sounter support. The eighth one is independent receiver and transmit FIFO's with programmable watermarks which means receive FIFO size 16K bytes and transmit FIFO size 4K bytes. The ninth one is autonegotiation algorithm on chip. The tenth one is full duplex only. And so on. That are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 8101 have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its Vcc supply voltage which would be from -0.3V to 4.0V. The second one is about its all inputs and outputs which would be from -0.3V to 5.5V. The third one is about its package power dissipation which would be 2.2W at 70°C. The fourth one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -65°C to +150°C. The fifth one is about its temperature under bias which would be from -10°C to +80°C. The sixth one is about its lead temperature (soldering, 10sec) which would be 260°C. The last one is about its body temperature (soldering, 30 sec) which would be 220°C. And so on.
