The 80C300 is designed as full duplex CMOS ethernet 10/100 mage bit/sec data link controller.
80C300 has many features. The first one is low power CMOS technology. The second one is 10/100 MBit ethernet controller optimized for switching hub, multiport bridge/router, & server applications. The third one is it meets ANSI/IEEE 802.3 and ISO 8802-3 standards for ethernet (10base-5) thin net (10base-2)(10base-T) and the proposed 100base-T4, 10baseTX standards. The fourth one is 10MHz serial/parallel conversion in 10MBit/sec serial mode. The fifth one is standard 10MBit/sec serial mode or programmable MII ethernet interface for 10/100 MBit/sec applications. The sixth one is programmability of double word threshold count space available/data available ready condition for transmit / receive FIFOs. The seventh one is auto retransmit upon collision sense. The eighth one is preamble generation and removal. The ninth one is automatic 32-bit FCS (CRC) generation and checking. The tenth one is error interrupt and status generation. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of 80C300 have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its Vcc supply voltage which would be from -0.3V to 6.0V. The second one is about its all inputs and outputs which would be from -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V. The third one is about its package power dissipation which would be 1.5W at 70°C. The fourth one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -65°C to +150°C. The fifth one is about its temperature under bias which would be from -10°C to +80°C. The sixth one is about its lead temperature (soldering, 10sec) which would be 260°C. The seventh one is about its body temperature (soldering, 30 sec) which would be 220°C. It should be noted that absolute maximum ratings are limits beyond which may cause permanent damage to the device or affect device reliabily. And so on.
