The 6AW8-A is designed as a miniature tube containing a high-mu triode and a sharp cutoff pentode. The triode section is intended for service as a sync separator and the pentode section as a video amplifier. As a result of its controlled heater-warm-up characteristic, it is especially suited for use in television receivers which employ 600-milliampere, series-connected heaters.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 6AW8-A have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its plate voltage would be 300V. (2)Its screen supply voltage would be 300V. (3)Its positive DC grid-number 1 voltage would be 0V. (4)Its negative DC grid-number 1 voltage would be 50V. (5)Its plate dissipation would be 3.25W. (6)Its screen dissipation would be 1.0W. (7)Its heater positive with respect to cathode would be 100V for DC component and would be 200V for total DC and peak. (8)Its heater negative with respect to cathode would be 200V for total DC and peak. (9)Its grid-number 1 circuit resistance would be 0.25 megohms with fixed bias and would be 1.0 megohms with cathode bias. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
