The 53S440 is designed as 1024x4 bipolar PROMs featuring low input current PNP inputs, full schottky clamping with open collector or three-state outputs. The titanium-tungsten fuses store a logical low and are programmed to the high-state.

53S440 has five features. (1)35ns maximum access times. (2)Reliable tltanlum-tungsten fuses (TIW) guarantee greater than 98% programming yields. (3)Low voltage generic programming. (4)PNP input for low input current. (5)Open collector or three-state outputs. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 53S440 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be from -0.5V to 7V for operating and 12V for programming. (2)Its input voltage would be from -1.5V to 7V for operating and 7V for programming. (3)Its input current would be from -30mA to 5mA for operating. (4)53S440's off-state output voltage would be from -0.5V to 5.5V for operating and 12V for programming. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. 53S440 should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
