The 2N3670 is designed as one kind of 12.5A silicon controlled rectifiers for low-cost power-control and power switching applications.
2N3670 has five features. (1)Low switching losses. (2)High di/dt and dv/dt capabilities. (3)Low leakage currents, both forward and reverse. (4)Low forward voltage drop at high current levels. (5)Low thermal resistance. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of 2N3670 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its transient peak reverse voltage non-repetitive would be 660V. (2)Its peak reverse voltage repetitive would be 400V. (3)Its pead forward blocking voltage repetitive would be 400V. (4)Its forward current average DC value at a conduction angle of 180° would be 8A and RAS value would be 12.5A for case temperature of +80°C. (5)Its peak surge current for one cycle of applied voltage would be 200A and for one cycle of applied principal voltage would be 200A at 60Hz sinusoidal and Tc=80°C and would be 170A at 50Hz sinusoidal Tc=80°C. (6)Its fusing current for SCR protection would be 170A. (7)Its rate of change of forward current di/dt would be 200A/ms. (8)Its gate power peak, forward or reverse, for 10ns duration would be 40W and would be 0.5W for average. (9)Its storage temperature range would be from -40°C to 125°C. (10)Its operating case temperature range would be from -40°C to 100°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of 2N3670 are concluded as follow. (1)Its peak repetitive blocking voltage would be min 400V. (2)Its peak blocking current forward would be typ 0.3mA and max 3mA and would be typ 0.2mA and max 1.5mA for reverse. (3)Its forward voltage drop at a forward current of 25A and Tc=25°C would be typ 1.5V and max 1.8V. And so on.
