The 1.5KE220 is designed as one kind of silicon transient suppressor to protect voltage sensitive components from high energy voltage transient. TAZ devices have become very important as a consquence of their high surge capability, extremely fast response time and low incremental surge resistance (Rs).
1.5KE220 has six features. (1)Economical. (2)1500 watts peak pulse power dissipation. (3)Stand OFF voltages from 5.5V to 171V. (4)Unipolar or bipolar. (5)Available in chip from hybrid application. (6)Multi chip bidirectional cells available. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of 1.5KE220 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its peak pulse power dissipation would be 1500W at 25°C. (2)Its clamping time (0V to Vbr min) would be max 10^-12 seconds for unidirectional and would be max 5 x 10^-9 seconds for bidirectional. (3)Its operating temperature range would be from -65°C to 175°C. (4)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 175°C. (5)Its forward surge rating would be 200A, 1/20 second at 25°C. (6)Its steady state power dissipation would be 5.0W at T1=75°C (no applicable in chip form). It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
