Description

The 13842 is short for FA13842N or FA13842P which is designed as CMOS current mode control ICs for off-line and DC-to-DC converters. It can reduce start-up circuit loss and are optimum for high efficiency power supplies because of the low power dissipation achieved through changes in the CMOS fabrication process. It can drive a power MOSFET directly. The high performance, compact power supply can be designed with minimal external components.

13842 has seventh features. The first one is it would be CMOS process. The second one is it has low-power dissipation. The third one is standby current would be 2mA (max) and its start-up current would be 30mA (max). The fourth one is pulse-by-pulse current limiting. The fifth one is it has 5V bandgap reference. The sixth one is UVLO (Undervoltage lockout) with hysteresis. The last one is pin-for-pin compatible with UC384X. That are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of 13842 have been concluded into several points as follow. Its supply voltage which would be 28V for low impedance source. Its zener current would be 10mA. Its putput peak current would be 400mA for source current and 1A for sink current. Its FB/ISNS terninal input voltage would be from -0.3V to 5.3V. Its error amolifier sink current would be 10mA. Its total power dissipation would be 800mW for DIP and would be 400mW for SOP. Its termal resistance would be 125°C/W for DIP and would be 250°C/W for SOP. Its junction temperature would be 150°C. Its ambient temperature would be from -25°C to 85°C. Its storage temperature range would be from -40°C to 150°C.

Also some recommended operating conditions about 13842. Its supply voltage should be min 10V and max 25V. Its oscillation timing capacitor should be min 0.47nF and max 10nF. Its oscillation timing resistor should be min 2.0k and max 100k. Its oscillation frequency should be min 10kHz and max 500kHz. And so on.
