The 10938 is designed as dot matrix display controller which is a two-chip MOS/LSI general purpose display controller system designed to interface to dot matrix display (vacuum-fluorescent or LED).
10938 has many features. The first one is 20-channel display driver cascadable to 80. The second one is standard 5 x 7 character font. The third one is separate cursor driver output. The fourth one is direct drive capability for vacuum-fluorescent displays. The fifth one is 128 x 35 PLA provides segment decoding for ful 96-character ASCII set, plus 32 special characters. The sixth one is serial or parallel data input for 8-bt display and control characters. The seventh one is brightness, refresh rate, and display mode controls. The eighth one is 40-pin DIP.
