Use of conventional transistors rather than fet's means that Q1 and Q2 operate in knee region, where frequency does not vary linearly with d-c control voltage. This is generally not a drawback when control voltage is servoed. Increasing the control voltage increases the frequency.-R. Selleck, Voltage-Controlled Oscillators, EEE, 13:3, p 47.
